Timmy Carbaugh, a native and resident of Giles County, has fished the New River for nearly 15 years and is in his second year guiding for New River Smallmouth Adventures. Timmy grew up on the banks of New River and currently lives at the base of the Palisades Cliffs in Eggleston on the New River. Timmy adds a great deal of knowledge and enthusiasm to New River Smallmouth Adventures' guided fishing trips. Timmy's wife Kelly (who also works for The New River Outdoor Company) and step-daughter Emma also love to fish the New River, and when he's not running guided trips, you can often find him fishing with them. Timmy supports the Pembroke Stop 'N Save for all of his tackle needs. One of our clients wrote us this after a trip with Timmy and said "Just wanted to let you guys know what a great time Stephen and I had... Caught a lot of fish, several real nice ones, and the weather finally cooperated. Timmy was great, don't let him get away from your operation. He is a first class guide. Thanks again and looking forward to doing it again." |

Steve Journell, a native and resident of Giles County, has guided for New River Smallmouth Adventures for five seasons. Steve is an avid angler and hunter, and he has fished the New River for nearly 29 years. Nobody works harder than Steve in providing a quality day on the New River and his energy is contagious. If you don't find Steve on the New River hunting trophy smallmouth, he's probably on Claytor Lake pursuing stripers. Steve is also owner/operator of J&J grocery at the junction of Route 100 and Walker Creek, and their deli breakfast is a hit with our clients! (Pictured to the right is one of Steve's happy anglers with a 23.5" smallmouth that weighed 5lb 2oz; one of the largest summer fish we have ever landed!!!) |

Andrew Fenstermaker, a native and resident of Giles County, has fished the New River for over ten years and is in his second year of guiding for New River Smallmouth Adventures. Andrew currently holds the record at the New River Outdoor Company for the largest smallmouth ever caught out of a kayak or canoe. In addition to his guiding duties, Andrew is serving as our shop manager in 2010. When Andrew isn't fishing, you can usually find him in the woods bow hunting. Andrew is a great addition to our team, and we are excited that he will be working for us in 2010! (Pictured to the left is Andrew with the largest smallmouth ever caught out of a NROC canoe/kayak.) |

Greg Rife is from Grundy, VA and has fished the New River in and around Giles County for nearly 30 years for both smallmouth and muskie. Greg runs all the muskie specific trips here at New River Smallmouth Adventures. But don't let him fool you, he is also a heck of a smallmouth angler with nearly 100 Virginia State Citation smallmouths to his credit. Greg is also an avid hunter and was a former amateur and professional boxer before he started working for the school system. (Pictured to the left is "shirtless" Greg with his largest Muskie to date. Greg and his partner landed seven muskies this day, five of which were 40" or larger.) |

Scott Guilliams currently resides just outside of Roanoke, VA and has fished the New River for over ten years and the James River many more. Scott started as a client of ours four years ago, and his passion for smallmouth fishing has progressed into guiding for us as he enters his second season with New River Smallmouth Adventures. Scott is now tying his own jigs, so if you fish with him this season, make sure to tie on a couple because they are definitely a "big fish" bait! (Pictured to the right is one of Scott's happy anglers with another big summer fish that measured 21" and weighed in at 4lb 8oz.) |
